Hey, I just met you, And this is crazy, But here’s my Facebook, So text me, maybe

The internet… Sweet, sweet, internet…

Nowadays people think that’s impossible to live without the internet, it became something so natural that some people go direct to the computer when arrive home or check the cellphone every time that stop in some place with Wi-fi. (me :P)
And if someone doesn’t like to use online spaces everyone look at him/her as if he/she was someone of another plane. Like: “How the hell you don’t have a Facebook?”
And I will be one of the people to look to this person like that. Facebook is one of the most efficient ways to communicate with your friends and family. But after I had to spend a while without internet, I realized that we are really addict to it and we don’t actually need all of that so much. It is nice, OF COURSE! It helps us all the time, SURE! But yes, we can survive without it, we did it once!
So today when someone tells me that doesn’t use some online space that I use, I don’t judge this person like before, I think it is cool and different, but not something that is of another world!

And, as you will see below, I still use my online spaces, a lot! ;)

So, I don’t like to put much about me in online spaces where everyone can see it. That’s why I always need to think a little hard to make my posts in tumblr. Because I want to do something that people will like and it’s real, but, at the same time, I don’t want put too much about me. I want to put enough so people can relate to it and see my point of view, but not enough so they can “unravel the mystery”. Therefore, I’m always trying to find a spot between this, the nothing and the too much.

But, when it’s about online groups, I have many of these I guess. :P

  • I have a group of best friends, called F.R.I.E.N.D.S, there we put everything we want to share but not with everyone or when we see something that reminded us of someone of the group. It is a wonderful way to catch up since we went to university and didn’t saw each other every day. And yes, the name is related to the series FRIENDS! We all love it!
  • I created a group for my friends to post my photos and news of the exchange called Amigos Sem Fronteiras and another one just for my family called Família Sem Fronteiras. In both I put the photos of my trips to another places, and photos of Den Haag and write everything that happens with me that is funny or interesting.
  • There is one called The Hague – CsF Holanda, that is for all exchange Brazilian students who study in The Hague University. In this group we put general information about the university or we use to plan a meeting.
  • I have the groups related to the IDE program: New Open Innovators (IDE); Communities -Team 4; Open Innovator Year 1

To be honest, I have 24 different groups on Facebook, some I barely use, I’m just in the group because of the information it provides, others are from past projects and others I’m not sure what I’m doing in there. But the ones that I use a lot are those above. The ones that involve my friends and family, people who I trust and care about.

Besides Facebook, the only other place that I have a group is in Whatapp, and it’s the same group of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Now, I realize that I don’t use many online tools to connect with the world, just the most popular ones! And I think this is a good thing, because all the information that I need are in just a few places and it’s easy to get it!

Thereafter,I can say that I prefer groups where I know people and interact with them outside the online world. In this kind of groups I feel more freedom to write what I want and be honest.

That’s interesting: you gather everyone in the same place. You have a tool and you use it for different purposes. I do it the other way around. I think of a person and information I want to share and then I choose (subconsciously) how to share it: fb, whatsApp, e-mail, livejournal or whatever. And in different networks I post different stuff.

p.s. And I really love the title!
