According to our motto TECHNOLOGY STEWARDSHIP, this week is about learning how to create our personal digital identity, and how to use and improve our techniques and skills.

Here are some questions coming up :

+ What is my intension of creating my digital identity ?

+ Do I necessarily need to define myself in the internet ?

+ If so, what is about privacy ? how far do I want to go in sharing my personal life ?

+ Or, will my personal and my digital ME even fuse into one defined  picture  ?

+ What is an accurate way, to handle this Fusion of analogue and digital  life ?

Though I understand, that this is part of our work, or even the basis for all our online communication and practicing, I am thinking about how to handle it, what message/personal image I want to create. Since we all have already a digital identity, it is now time to define and brand it.

Therefore, we can make use of all kinds of technology/online tools, some of them we already know, and some of them we will surely get to know in the next weeks..

What is most important now, regarding our group-works and our class goals, is to keep on exploring ourselves, in order to share our competences, our knowledge and our skills within the groups so we can strive together for achieving our goals and, in first place, to enrich ourselves and the others…

By now, I don’t have much experience in online tools, so I fear i have not much to contribute to this.

Nevertheless, I like doing researches and gathering / using this information.

Most of the tools i know/ use are tools for communication and sharing.

I would really like to learn more about how to use programs as :

+ Photoshop

+ InDesign

+ FinalCutPro

+ Logic

A big Thanks to Maarten van Leeuwen, who gave us a lot of his time to answer our questions and to discuss the difficulties and problems they face within their internal communication.I have now a better understanding of what is needed and what we can effectively contribute to help them.

Creating the spidergram was also a helpful task, regarding both the priorities within our NGO’s community, aswell as in our group.

I hope this week will bring new ideas and inspirations, so we can improve and finally also share our skills !

Just a quick note to detangle a thread. Technology stewardship is not directly related to the digital identity theme. Two different things!

Technology stewardship is about how we steward technology on behalf of others (in our communities and networks)

Digital identity is how we are portrayed online, both by things we put online and what others put up about us.

    Does that make sense?

Nice post! I can teach you Photoshop and maybe you can teach me how to write an interesting blog. 😛

I really like your questions as well.
As for InDesign and Photoshop you are very welcome to ask me!

    Hey Katinka,
really enjoyed reading your entry because I think that we are part of a very little bunch of people in our course that see the risks of sharing everything online and still live in the real world.
Besides that you don´t need to define yourself in the internet to work successfully.

    I really liked your questions!
Those questions didn’t even crossed my mind, but it’s something important to us!

    I also liked Anne’s answer!

You guys made me think about my digital identity in a new way! 🙂

  6. Anne says:

I like to react at your question ‘Do I necessarily need to define myself in the internet ?’

Well, I guess when you are getting active as a designer it is quite impossible to not use the internet. And I think if you don’t define yourself on the internet, other people will do it for you and might have all the wrong impressions and that would be a pitty for all your great ideas you’re trying to spread out! So you couldn’t start soon enough to be aware of what you put on the internet about yourself, it will be forever out there! For everyone to see if they want to, even you put your posts on ‘private’. You have the greatest influence of how people will see you, see your digital identity! So make great use out of that!

That’s my advice. Hope I could help out or answered the question for you.
