I found out that I still cannot use them. Though I am born in a digital native era, I never found technology interesting. But know I am a proud Tumblr-Blogger. But in comparison with my knowledge from before, I can say that using these types of networks are pretty handy if you are trying to work in a big group like a class. But for personal reasons or even in a company I would not wok this way. I like it oldschool with paper and pen, communicating by talking and maybe more innovative.
My design principles would be the same principals I have for life:
Respect the elders, in this case the big designers and their style.
Take your time.
Work hard, try not to be satisfied with the first draft ‘keep designing ‘keep innovating.
‘’Fortis Fortuna adiuvat’’ , Fortune helps the strong, in this case ‘’Luck is usually on the side of those who take risks’’ and by that I mean trying hard and risking will reward you.
Try working in groups to achieve maximum creativity.
Dear future IDE student, please pay attention in class and do not get distracted to much by the free good wifi. J But joke aside, it is very important to get the most out of the classes and do that by listening but even if you not sure about something ask immediately the teacher. And the most important thing is ‘’Time Management’’. If you do not start you work early you might end up with too much work. Try to do soething for every subject everyweek a little bit and you will be rewarded again.
In my opinion the most effective theme for our NGO would be crowdfunding and crowdsourcing. Because the thing our NGO needs is money in order to be able to solve problems. But to find people that support him in his projects he needs to reach out to a big audience. To reach out to big audience he needs to have good ideas which evolve through good crowdsourcing. So this is kind of a neverending circle that can even improve itself, because good crowdsourcing leads to good crowdfunding which leads to alot of support. All of this support adds alot of experience,motivation and financial security. All this leads to better crowdsourcing and so on.
In my opinion crowdsourcing and crowdfunding are not only important but also a lot of fun and exciting. We had many great themes so far. Especially this weeks theme, marketing, is also very important but marketing can be a one-mans job. But l believe that crowdsourcing is more about working together in a team with people that have the same ambitions and same goal. This is an environment l would enjoy and thats why its more important for me.
And last but not least is the atmosphere in a company/organisation very important. Studies of the University of Southern California showed that it is more likely to succeed if you work in a group that you have worked with and achieved something before.
I am sure that the key to success will be crowdsourcing and crowdfunding because everything is possible with a group of well motivated and organized people.
PS: There was no such study.
In my opinion both these optiones are perfect, since what i want to do is present better thing and projects to the world. But I can understand if for others Crowdsourcing is not a good thing since they maybe think economical wise. And they do not want to share the profit. Crowdfunding is in my opinion one of the smartest things humans came up with. And when I hear about people that actually solved a problem with the money they raised i think that if more people would trust websites and the internet that we could solve more and do more good. But its not only about doing good some of these ideas are actually pretty smart and its an easy way to earn money. I wont do the math now but everyone wishes to have had bought a small part of Apple in the developing years.
If we look at crowdsourcing in design closer, then the only pros for me are the quantity of the ideas and that a many opinions could lead to a more succesfull product. Now that i have mentioned the word succesfull his is the bad part about crowdfunding. In the world of design you have to have a name, in order to be really succesfull. At this point i would compare the pininfarina family and Ikea. Pininfarina is a italian design company founded by Battista Pinin Farina in 1930 and since then they got famous for designing many luxorious super sport cars. But they design a lot more. Ikea is a huge company with many hundred designers. These share the name and money.
As a result crowdsourcing is a good solution if you want to help imrove the world and so one but if you want to get incredibly rich its your own Brand name that gets you there.
Although we had some organizational problems in the beginning , we all managed to individually get our job done. Even though we never managed a proper meeting, by proper i mean where actually every member of the group was present. But still, everyone has researched our client pretty well, our progress and other information is on google docs.
Like mentioned organizing a single group meeting challeges us, but as soon as we sit on a table, we split into smaller groups and get our job done. The impact of size does not really bother,since like mentioned above our group splits itself automatically. A small group in front of a pink Mac writing and another infront of sheet and paper visualizing.
In our group we have around 8 different nationalities, so its pretty interesting to wittness such a culture mix and it is still working out. Ofcourse every culture brings certain behavior to a group. But our group is always on the same page. We not only might we have to do alot different in the future. Not only the communication between team members but also to our NGO. For the next weeks we should arrange many more meetings as a group and contact our NGO so we can be sure to have the best solution possible for our NGOs problem. But honestly I know for sure we will make our NGO more then happy.

We have decided to break up the group responsibilities as follows.
Leader, liaison between groups (1)- Connor
Organization of the cite, how should it be structured to suit their needs (2) - Ceire, Karolina
Visualization of the cite ( aesthetic appearance) and video (2)- Mario , Maarten
Research and Communication ( provides research on subjects of interest, gives methods for communicating effectively on an international scale.) (2) - Efe , Niki
We have decided to structure it in this manner because we feel that when people are in groups of two they work in a stable structure, and are able to bounce their ideas off of someone without getting lost in the group. The three groups were given tasks based on our top three priorities at the moment and are subject to change as tasks shift.
All of us have individual networks that we can use to our advantage in this project. For example Connor and I both know people that have a background in video editing and production that could aid us in our final video presentation. In addition, Karolina has individually created her own drupal account that our team has used to explore Drupal’s logistic capabilities and functions. There are some networks that we are currently underutilizing and hope to take advantage of in the near future such as the ability to fill out a contact form on Drupal to make communication more efficient.
We think moving forward we are going to adapt the organization of our meetings to include more structured action points. This will allow us to move forward from the gathering information stage to an active stage.
Look at one of the online groups you have identified as examples in previous weeks. How are they using group size effectively or not? How are they using cultural diversity effectively or not? What is the evidence of interaction over time and how is that related to the success of their endeavours?
The Drupal communities page ( https://drupal.org/irc)
uses the “We” group size effectively, by allowing both a space for general information pertinent to this specific group, and an area of the site where smaller groups of people can chat. This allows for both a transparent movement of information throughout the community and the flexibility to tackle specific goals with key individuals. It also offers a mailing list and a member directory to facilitate collaboration. The website seems to be culturally neutral, not particularly accommodating other groups but rather unifying the community.
Evidence of this interaction can be seen via the sites archive of topical channels and past posts. This has allowed them to communicate on relevant material and refer to past information that they may find helpful.
What is also this week assingment, we are trying to figure out what works well (as working in team) and what doesn’t work at all. As for now, we have problems with communication. Somebody’s posting some iinformation, which he or she has recently found out, and most of us don’t even realize that something has been posted. What goes with it, we have problems with setting the main way(platform or some kind of social network) of exchanging information. Another hard thing to do for us was how to set the roles and decide who should do what in order to actually get the project started. We have just started working on our problems and we hope to solve them and make our work more productive. We will talk about it (when we’ll meet together-with whole group-we all hope it will happen) probably we’ll meet more often, improve team work and help each other in case of any missunderstandings and problems. We have to make our meetings work.
The easiest way to describe my cyber behavior,would be quoting a homeless person that we met in Berlin. After he asked us for money, my friends started talking to him but for some reason i was only listening. After some time the homeless person turned to me, smiled and said ”You are an observer.”
From that day on I give that expression more and more meaning. In the cyber world my behavior is exactly the same.On Facebook ,birthday greetings are always private, and I never comment. I am more interested in seeing what my friends are up to or have done in pictures. Basically the way I use Facebook is like Instagram but on Facebook I have access to more peoples life since its used by everyone. Networks I have no interest in, are where you write alot, like Twitter, Tumblr or other forums. My place in the cyber world is the observer. I look through the main page on facebook and get bored after a few minutes. But sometimes I get scared how fast time flies on Instagram, since it is compareble to the birthday box that has a smaller box the more you open them. But to share my opinions I talk to my best friends and discuss topics with them. Even if we often do not share the same opinions , these types of conversations bring us closer.
So as a conclusion, the homeless person was right, and I prefer to read discussions rather then having them.

As much as i enjoy sharing pictures with friends and being able to message them 24/7. It scares me. People or Institutions can legally or ilegally check my profiles. And thats exactly why i will start erasing my digital identity in the following weeks when my capability has increased to a certain level. My knowledge concerning online tools are very basic, so please don’t expect a lot. I would be more then happy to share my knowledge with you but its basiclly what everyone of you already knew years ago. But the best motivation to learn is curiosity. And i am curious, thats why i will have learned from and with you in the following days and weeks. Thank you in advance…

First of all, i want to start by stating that in my opinion the most important goal that we should strive for is the good team-work. Faceing problems as a team is harder than it seems since everyone is very diffrent. But to come up with the best possible solution, a group has to listen to every of its members and let everyone contribute. To achieve the best goals, you and your team members have to respect each others opinion and idea. As a result of our group work i do not only want to find the best solution for this project, but also become a great team so we can face other problems in the future. Since i do not have alot experience with computers or several programs we are using or will use , i m looking forward to learn to work with these.
My special quality is a secret for now but i am sure you will recognize it in the upcoming weeks.
